What do you DO in your Entrepreneur WORK

What do you DO in your Entrepreneur WORK

Before you read further, open up another screen or take out paper and a pen. Answer the question.

What do you DO in your Entrepreneur WORK?

STOP READING HERE, unless you answered the question above.

I can imagine some of your wonderful and creative answers. I’m sure some of you wrote that you help people create income from home. Others wrote that you inspire creativity and change. There is no doubt that someone wrote that in their work, they develop programs for helping children and families. There are hundreds more answers out that and I’d LOVE to hear them all – so please share them in the comments below.

But before you do, I’m going to share something with you that you can ponder and then add to your comment. The answers that come to mind when asked that question are wonderful, engaging, exciting and truthful. My question though is about “what you do” while you are working your wonders. If I were a fly on the wall in your office, what would I observe?

In my office, that fly would see me doing three main things. The fly would observe me writing blog posts and on social media. The fly would hear me talking on the phone to clients and business partners. And the fly would see me developing programs, products and curriculum.

If you are an author, you might tell me that you write books that bring readers deep into adventure and mystery on the dark ancient continent of Amzar. Wow! I’d love to read that book. But is it your work? What you do every single day is to sit down at your keyboard and write. Even if no words come that day, your work is to sit down at the keyboard.  To be a professional writer, every day you must sit down at the keyboard.

To be a professional artist, every day you must do art. You must paint, or sculpt or draw.  You must enter your studio and work even if you are uninspired. Even if there is no creativity oozing from your fingers that day. Your WORK is to come to the studio daily to do Art.. The writers WORK is to sit at the keyboard every day to write.

The entrepreneur’s work is to come to the Office every day and do the actions that he knows are behind the lofty visions of his work. My vision is to change the world by helping people get out of their own way so that they can bring their gifts to others. The fly on the wall will not see me doing that every day. The fly will see me writing content, talking to clients on the phone or skype, and developing programs, products and curriculum. My daily WORK is to do the things that let the mission of my work exist.

It is not an inspirational thing. Amateurs work when inspired. Professionals work every day. So tell me now in the comments below,
