Secrets of Six Figure Women Entrepreneurs
This is an excerpt from a live presentation about the Secrets of Six Figure Women at a women’s networking luncheon.
Hi, I am Deborah Tutnauer. I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 20 years. I presently live here in San Diego and have a massive team all over North America. Thank goodness for the Internet, right?!!
I’m here with you today to talk about Secrets of Six Figure Women Income Earners. Just a little bit more about me. In my career, prior to becoming a marketer, I was a clinical psychotherapist focused on coaching and training women, to basically get out of their own way and to do things in a manner that gets them to their destination. You might think I’m talking about skills and methods… yet – am going to dispel that idea right from the beginning.
Fill in the blanks: Money doesn’t grow on ______. Money is the root of all _____.
You need to go get good grades in ______ you could go to a good _____and get a good ____so you can pay your ____.
It is funny that every single one of us could fill in those blanks. That’s part of our story and most people in our generations have a similar story response.
We can all have stories,. Stories can be wonderful if they are working for you or they can be a block – A warped filter. Something that is getting in the way of you achieving what it is that you want to achieve. We all have filters through which we process the incoming information into our world and through which we present ourselves back out to the world.
Six figure women do something different. When I didn’t know the secrets — and there’s actually a few of them, (but today we are going to talk about one maybe two) — When I didn’t know the secret I was not a six-figure income earner
As soon as I discovered it everything changed. If there’s one thing I want you to leave with today it’s a nugget of something concrete that you can go home with, So that things will change for you as well. In your green envelope is a card for my new class .. It is not a networking group. It is a class entitled secrets of six-figure women. Today I only have time for a tidbit. The 4 session class is where you are going to learn the details. I think you will be thrilled with the results so take a look at that – as we’re not to get to everything here today. Let’s talk about your story
Your story is a compilation of your life experiences. Messages from your parents. Messages from the generation before your parents, and even the generation before that. Your story is part and parcel of experiences that you had — the failures that you had — successes that you’ve had. It is hard to discover your story until you look for it. When you look , you will see it right there starring you in the face.
Here’s a clue. Phrases that you find yourself using over and over and over again throughout your days. Repetitious phrases that you utter in response to stress, disappointment, frustration, anger…are BIG clues to your story. I would write this down….
Spend a week paying attention to the things that come out of your mouth. You can call them your own personal clichés. When something doesn’t go right for you, do you think “I know it’s just my luck”
What is your story if you’re trying to close a sale – and it doesn’t turn out correctly? Is there a voice of your mother in your head saying, “women weren’t meant to be in sales anyway?” What do you say when you get close to reaching your goal and you almost get there but not quite? Do you say “Why does this always happen to me”
Get a story notebook and start recording your personal repetitive phrases. You will need them for part two.
I’ve been a therapist since 1990 and I know how hard it is for people to change. In fact it is very very hard for people to change if their story is that it’s hard to change, but I also know that changing can be as simple as changing your story.
When you decide that you are going to change your story, your story changes.
When you decide to pay attention and re-word the voice in your head, your story changes. It’s a simple as recognizing, re creating the words which lead to different feelings, then different actions, then different results.
You may be thinking “oh Deborah that’s never going to work” . I am here to assure you that it does — it’s not just mental it’s physiological in your brain
In your brain you have something called the reticular activating system and the reticular activating system is like a catalog of every thought every phrase every experience that an emotional component tied to it. You interrupt a pattern and it changes from that physiological core onward.
Changing your story will change everything. Changing your story is one of the top secrets of six figure women income earners.
