Can you hear Color?
Last night I was awakened at 3:47 AM by the sound of blue light.
I know that may sound weird, yet indeed I heard the light
in the room shining in from the hallway turn blue.
It was still pitch dark in the room, so I know it was not the light
that woke me, but the “sound” of the light.
After waking enough to think straight I got out of bed
to investigate and determined that the cat had turned on
the computer and the screen was glowing blue.
How he did that is a story for another day.
Suffice it say that for the next hour, while struggling
to fall back asleep, I pondered the sound of color.
I remembered that the days of the week had colors too – and
each one had a feeling that stays with me even now, though
I believe the colors may have first been shared by
Captain Kangeroo when I was a young child.
(Too young to know who Captain Kangeroo was? Google him)
Monday = light pink
Tuesday = dark blue
Wednesday = light blue
Thursday = rusty orange
Friday = drab green
Saturday = red
Sunday = white
“Why is she sharing this with me?” you may be thinking.
The answer: It’s intriguing to me.
As a coach and a teacher and coach of coaches and marketers,
I feel part of my responsibility is to inspire people to think
bigger – to expand their perception of incoming
information and sensory experiences.
Hearing, feeling, touching color is one of those
intriguing topics that can go pretty deep pretty fast
if you sit with it for awhile.
Let me know what you come up with in the comments below.
PS. We as humans often expand our
conscious awareness through conversation
and can take the expansion and bring it
into our work and our lives.
