Small Business Experience
End Value of Coaching.
Humor me while we explore not just the practical side of things, but the philosophical – esoteric as well. When a small business owner decides to embark on a coaching experience, generally he or she is struggling in a some practical sense. Either marketing is not productive or sales are sluggish, or there are challenges within the organization or business structure. In my experience as a small business coach, the end value usually is so much more than just the solutions to those presenting problems.
Business coaching done well for individual entrepreneurs or small business owners requires that the person explore his or her own core values, expertise, passions and communication style. In addition, acknowledging old life stories that keep one stuck in a non-productive pattern or mindset is crucial. Thus the end value of the coaching experience flows out to encompass not only solving the particular initial business problems, but into the whole of one’s life. At least I like to hope that it does.
I’ve yet to work with a client who has not found the coaching experience to be an expansive one – opening dark corners of worn out thinking boxes and dusting away cobwebs that grab and keep one stuck . The purpose of coaching small business owners from an authentic and personal perspective is to bring energy, freshness and deliberate productive action into a business that is ready to shift and grown. It’s both professional and personal – since many small business owners are in fact their business – or they have a tiny staff who looks to them for direction and inspiration.
When I take a business client back to their roots, personally and within the framework of their product, service and structure, we are able to then solidify a foundation that supports year of steady growth without floundering. There are often many “Ah-Ha” moments as he or she realizes the missing pieces or the erroneous perceptions on which the business is/was being built. I love watching a client move forward with more energy, insight, income and joy than they’ve had in years. For me, that is the end value of the small business coaching experience!
