There is a secret world that is accessed only in the wee hours of the night by those who spend a lot of time online. For those of us who market online, there is much to get done during the day; emails to write, phone call to make, blog posts to create. The phone rings, people have questions, sales need to closed.
Late at night it all changes. That is when one can have a conversation on Twitter that goes back and forth for 20 minutes. As the time approaches midnight only the hardcore social media networkers are still awake, posting comments and having discussions on Facebook. It’s a time to really get to know each other without distractions.
My confession is that I truly love my late nights in cyberspace. There is an allure to be awake and interacting with people all over the Western Hemisphere on a level that is beyond business. Thoughts seem to become more real and down to earth. People are more open and have more time to share. Once it’s past 10:30, it becomes hard to shut down and go to bed, for that is when the special late night interactions begin.

I’m sure you’ve been told that December is worst month of the year for network marketing. Is it an old wives tale meant to make everyone feel better about taking the month off and pushing hard with your business, or is it true?
The time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day is traditionally a time in our US culture with a focus on the holidays and on retail sales and marketing. No one could possibly make you believe that business is not happening. You just have to open a newspaper flyer or enter into any retail store to see that business is in full swing. They say in the network marketing industry that you are not doing anything unless you are actively recruiting/sponsoring new business builders for your downline and retailing products. Anything you do that does not produce results that are seen as income, is a questionable activity. In the present focus on Attraction Marketing using social media, many are spending a vast majority of their time being social, but not ultimately being productive. There is a difference.

Social bookmarking and social media marketing has worked well for me and has been a staple of my online marketing for the past few years. Most recently though, my life became immensely easier and my bookmarking much more effective. If you’ve not yet read The Four Hour Work Week, put it on your list. It’s an impressive book and a very worthwhile mind-set, concerned with prioritizing how you spend your time and what parts of your work can be outsourced.
To that end, last week I began using a system called Synnd. I rarely jump on much that comes my way online anymore, but this caught my eye due to the integrity of the person making the recommendation and the fact that Synnd claimed to be essentially able to outsource my social media marketing (which includes to a great degree, social bookmarking).
Fifteen years ago I packed up my little red Acura Integra with my favorite books, my camping gear, mountain bike and few pairs of skis and headed to the Rocky Mountains. My goal was to visit many different small resort towns in Colorado, New Mexico and Utah and decide where I wanted to live next. I had a checklist of the items that comprised my perfect town. The plan was to visit and stay long enough in each location to be able to work through the checklist and determine if this was the place for me to live.

1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but is will be yours for the entire period of this time around.
2. You will need lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant or stupid.
3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error, of experimentation. The “failed” experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that eventually “works”.
4. A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson.
5. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lesson. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.
6. “There” is no better than “here. When your “there” has become a “here” you will simply obtain another “there” that will look better than “here”.
7. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.
8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you ;need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
9. The answers to life’s questions lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen and trust.
10. You can forget all this.
11. You can remember it whenever you want.
